Why Indie RPGs Fit Mobile So Well
Sprawling RPGs with forty menus rarely feel good on a phone. But scale a story down and something clicks — mobile becomes the ideal way to play a chapter here and there.
Hollow Lantern is my proof. Its leveling is trimmed to a few real choices, so you never open the app and forget what you were doing. That respect for your memory is underrated.
Short sessions also suit episodic storytelling. Reading a chapter on the train, then thinking about it until the next ride, is a genuinely nice way to experience a narrative.
If you've bounced off mobile RPGs before, try the small ones. The constraints often make them better.
